Physical Therapy at NeuroTherapeutics
Physical therapy services at NeuroTherapeutics consist of traditional pediatric
rehabilitation for gross motor delays, but that is only the tip of the iceberg.
In addition to weekly or twice weekly PT sessions we offer therapy intensives,
wherein a child who has plateaued or become stuck on a particular skill can come
for intensive daily therapy to get "over the hump".
Home programs are an integrated part of our therapy service and are essential for
continued gains. We offer serial casting to improve range of motion and casting for
orthotics, which are manufactured at Cascade Prosthetics and Orthotics. We offer
follow-up orthotic fitting and management. We offer intensive post-BOTOX stretching
and home program development. Outside activities such as horseback riding, aquatics,
and martial arts are encouraged and seen as an important adjunct to regular PT.
We believe that different children benefit from different therapy models. We are very
creative in providing the most effective treatment for each child. Some children
benefit from limited treatment sessions and a strong home program, other children
benefit from intensive, short-term therapy with time off to integrate the skills
they've gained. Other children do better with the stability of weekly or twice
weekly treatment sessions combined with a home program.
Being a private clinic, we can offer creativity and flexibility in meeting clients'
needs. All of our PTs treat with both an SI and a NDT orientation as needed. This
allows for more holistic treatment and a more global approach to a child's needs.
We do not "compartmentalize" therapy. Our PTs confer frequently with our OTs on staff
and rely on and use their expertise as needed. We pride ourselves in supporting the
entire family and helping parents to understand their child's behaviors and needs. |
