Handwriting Without Tears® at NeuroTherapeutics
Developed by Jan Olsen, Handwriting Without Tears® (HWT) is a simple, developmentally
based curriculum for writing readiness, printing, and cursive. The multisensory lessons teach
to all learning styles - visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic. The unique materials and
appealing workbooks eliminate problems with letter formation, reversals, legibility, sentence
spacing, and cursive connections. Teachers, parents, and children find the program enjoyable,
even fun, and the results very satisfying.
It is Jan's goal with the program to make handwriting available to all children as an
automatic and natural skill. She believes that children who write well perform better in
school, enjoy their classes more, and feel proud of their work.
The lesson plans our therapists utilize will show the child how to develop excellent printing
habits and skills using unique teaching strategies and the HWT letter style that make printing
easier for the children. Our therapists will also provide suggestions for fun ways to help
children with posture, pencil grip, and paper placement. And the lesson plans are simple,
giving your child a great start in handwriting.
