Clinical Feeding Evaluations at NeuroTherapeutics
This feeding evaluation will be a comprehensive assessment involving evaluation of motor,
sensory, oral-motor, positioning and environmental issues that may be negatively impacting
your child's ability to be a successful eater. The assessment will be performed by a
licensed occupational therapist who has worked with children since 1996 who have difficulty
with feeding. She has also worked in a hospital-based feeding clinic with other disciplines
who specialize in feeding, so she is able to identify roles of other specialists to refer
for other needed services.
Generally a home program is established and a child is scheduled for feeding check-ups as
needed. Feeding checkups are usually every 4-6 weeks, sometimes more often and sometimes
less often. The follow-up schedule is decided by the feeding specialist and the child's
caregiver.
We will bill insurance companies for this service. The initial evaluation will be billed
as an additional 60 minute occupational therapy visit and a half-hour evaluation charge.
Subsequent visits will be billed as a regular treatment session. We will make every effort
beforehand to determine if your insurance will pay, but ultimately the responsibility for
payment rests with the client or responsible party.
